GRACE BYBEE Click here to view a video tribute IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Grace Cowel Bybee, 99, of Idaho Falls, died January 9, 2008, at Good Samaritan Nursing Center. She was born November 4, 1908, in Annis, Idaho, to Alfred Levi Cowel and Nancy Clark Cowel. Due to her mother's death, she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Lillias and William Poole. She attended elementary schools in Annis until age 9 and then moved with her family to Rigby where she graduated from 8th grade and attended Rigby High School. She later moved to Idaho Falls, where she worked at White Star Laundry. On April 8, 1929, she married Floyd Allen Bybee in Brigham City, Utah. She worked at Wandamere, a popular place to dance, for 8 years during the 30's and 40's. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary since 1949 and served as chaplain, vice president, and twice as president. She was also Eagle’s State Mother from 1962-1963. From 1963 to 1973, she worked in housekeeping at Sacred Heart Hospital. Later in life, she volunteered at the Good Samaritan Center, Senior Center, and AARP. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had served as a Primary Teacher and Nursery Leader. She enjoyed baking, canning, reading, camping, and traveling. Grace especially loved her family and the time she spent with them. Survivors include: Stepdaughter: Eva Bybee Sutliff of Sacramento, CA Son: Gary Allen Bybee of Afton, WY Son: Roger John (Betty) Bybee of Haughton, LA Daughter: Joyce Bybee (Steve) Woodland of Houston, TX Sister: Edna Cowel Rottweiler of Roberts, ID 20 Grandchildren, 26 Great Grandchildren, and 7 Great Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a stepdaughter, Fay Bybee Ward McPhedrin. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2008, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, with Bishop Nathan Smith of the Idaho Falls LDS 3rd Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the services at the church.
