Dr. Charles Gordon Ward, 84, of Ammon, passed away June 2, 2022, at Life Care Center of Idaho Falls, surrounded by his family.
Gordon was born December 14, 1937, in Afton, Wyoming, to William George Ward and Sylvia Matilda Nielsen Ward. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He also attended Utah State University for his undergraduate studies, and Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, where he earned a degree in Dental Science.
On August 30, 1963, he was sealed to Ann Seeley in the Logan, Utah Temple. Gordon and Ann made their home on the West side of Idaho Falls where Gordon worked as a dentist. They moved to Ammon in 2019.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for which he served a church mission in Copenhagen, Denmark, as a young man. He served in many positions within the church, such as on the High Council, Stake Young Men’s President, Scout Master, and Counselor in three different Bishoprics. Gordon and Ann served a mission at the church cannery and in the Idaho Falls Temple Visitor’s Center. He loved being with his family and enjoyed being in the outdoors including camping, motorcycling, rafting, grilling, skiing, hiking, and gardening. He also enjoyed woodworking, being a handyman, and serving others.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife, Ann S. Ward of Ammon, ID; children, Julie (Kenneth) Johnson of Idaho Falls, ID, David (Holly) Ward of Idaho Falls, ID, Robert (Jennifer) Ward of Idaho Falls, ID, Douglas (Jami) Ward of San Antonio, TX, James (Michelle) Ward of Idaho Falls, ID, Richard (Amber) Ward of Peoria, AZ; a sister, Deonne (Drew) Anderson of Phoenix, AZ; and 29 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Janet Ward.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at Ammon 34th Ward, 4030 John Adams Parkway. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Wednesday from 10:00 am to 10:45 am. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
