Goldia Ann McCortney Knudsen, 90, of Ammon, passed away June 8, 2011 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Goldia was born February 14, 1921, in Fox, Oklahoma, to James Edward McCortney and Vera Velma Pruitt. She graduated from Fox High School in Oklahoma, attended Oklahoma College for Women, and Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma, where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in English and Business.
She married John George Knudsen on March 7, 1946, in the Salt Lake City, Utah, LDS Temple. Goldia taught at Bonneville High School in Idaho Falls, Idaho, for 16 years; at Olympus Jr. High School in Salt Lake City, Utah, for four years; and at Leon High School in Kansas for one year.
Goldie and John retired in 1983. They spent the winters in their home in St. George, Utah, where they enjoyed the recreational activities southern Utah has to offer. During the summer, they returned to Idaho Falls to enjoy time with their family.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life, she served in many callings including Ward Young Women President, Stake Beehive Leader, Scout Teacher, Sunday School Teacher and Primary Teacher.
Goldia was an avid golfer. She loved the mountains, hiking, traveling, and doing genealogy.

Eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sons, John George Knudsen Jr. and Steven Cortney Knudsen.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2011, at the Ammon LDS 6th Ward, 2150 Avocet, with Bishop Cam J. Payne officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at St. George City Cemetery in St. George, Utah, under the direction of Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Rd.
