Glory A. Commander - 12/09/2001 Glory A. Commander - 12/09/2001 GLORY A. COMMANDER IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Glory A Commander, age 70, passed away Friday December 7, 2001, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. She was born February 24, 1931 in Inglewood California, the daughter of Shirley and Elizabeth Sims. She was one of two children. On June 18, 1949 she married John C Commander. They made their home in Monterey Park, California for 16 years. They moved to Idaho Falls in 1969 when John obtained a position with Aerojet Nuclear at the National Reactor Testing Station. Mrs. Commander was a loving wife and mother. In addition to her home duties, she organized the Idaho Falls Figure Skating Program in 1970, and managed the program until 1984. She was also a member of the Kelly Canyon Ski Patrol and the Idaho Falls Ski Club during that period. She was a great help to her husband in the Boy Scout Program, and served as an adult leader on numerous 50 mile hike scout outings. She enjoyed fishing, hiking, sking, figure skating and dancing. She is survived by her husband John and by three married sons: Mark (Mary),Superior Colorado; Bob (Jennifer), Park City Utah; Brett (Lori), Louisville Colorado; and her 4 loving grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Gail (Fran) Sims Kaneohe Hawaii. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2001, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 237 North Water Avenue, Idaho Falls, with Reverend Thom Larsen officiating. Friends may greet the family at 3 p.m. in the parlor of Trinity United Methodist Church prior to the service.
