Gloria Faye Whitney

Gloria Faye Whitney, 87, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 6, 2023, at Intermountain Health Care in Salt Lake City.

Faye was born November 6, 1936, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Ezra Prichard Rhoades and Rosella Agusta Johnson Rhoades. She grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls.

On July 20, 1953, she married Bobby Jay Whitney in Winnemucca, Nevada. Faye and Bobby made their home in McCall, Idaho, moving to Idaho Falls in 1978, where Faye worked for Pillsbury.

Faye was a faithful Baptist and member of Calvary Chapel, where she enjoyed working in the Nursery. She had many hobbies and enjoyed reading, dancing, swimming, fishing, knitting, crocheting, and traveling. She was a long-time volunteer at the Senior Center.

Faye is survived by her daughter, Deborah Whitney of Salt Lake City, UT; son, Bobby Jay (Judy) Whitney, II of Idaho Falls, ID; 3 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Sharl Rhoades, Carl  Rhoades, Arvin Rhoades, August Rhoades, Don Rhoades, and LeeRoy Rhoades; sisters, Golda Burke and Martha Lane.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 18, 2023, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior. to services, both visitations at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
