Glenna Goeken

Glenna Maurine Barrus Goeken, 68, of Ammon, passed away January 7, 2017, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her family. Glenna was born April 3, 1948, in Evanston, Wyoming, to Keith R. Barrus and Corinne Rounds Barrus. She grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Idaho State University. On March 26, 1976, she married Ricky D. Goeken in Idaho Falls. Glenna and Rick made their home in Ammon, Idaho, where Glenna worked as an English Teacher at Idaho Falls High School. She enjoyed playing and teaching piano, gardening, reading, her family, but mostly her grandchildren. She loved music, especially the Beatles, and the color yellow. Glenna is survived by her son, Dillon David (Kristen) Mayes of Idaho Falls; daughter, Allyson (Mark) Hunter of Idaho Falls; son, Kristopher R. Goeken of Idaho Falls; son, Jeffery Goeken of Idaho Falls; three favorite sisters, Janet Hart, Louise DeRoche, and Barbara Chadwick; brother, Alan Barrus; and 3 grandchildren, Jordyn, Hannah, and Henry. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 13, 2017, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, with Kevin Murray officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services.
