He married Marguerite Ann Nelson on May 23, 1933, in the town of Dubois, Idaho. There were three children born to the marriage: Dale, Dorothy and Jimmy. Glenn started out in business for himself by purchasing freight trucks to haul coal from the mines east of Idaho Falls. Later on he changed to the business of road construction, joining partners with Don Nelson in creating the company named Pickett/Nelson Construction Company. These two sold their business and retired in 1968. Glenn and Marguerite spent their retirement years wintering in Scottsdale, Arizona, and summering at home in Idaho Falls. They shared 60 years of marriage together until Marguerite passed away in December of 1994.
During his years in business Glenn was on the Board of Directors of the Idaho Contractors Association and at one time was appointed to the State Licensing Board of Idaho Associated General Contractors. He was an avid trap shooter and helped establish the first trapshooting club in Idaho Falls. He was a long-standing member of the Skyline Gun Club as well as the Amateur Trapshooters Association, and received many awards during his activities in these organizations. In 1997 he was inducted into the Idaho Trapshooter’s Hall of Fame. Besides trapshooting Glenn enjoyed bird hunting, fishing, pool, watching baseball and functioning as a trap-machine repairman, practicing this craft all the way from Jackson Hole to Phoenix. He was also a longtime member of the Idaho Falls Elks Club.
