Respected educator and former Principal of Idaho Falls High School, Glenn Monroe Manion, 96, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 21, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family.
Glenn was born June 11, 1916, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Orville Monroe Manion and Eva Sipple Manion. He grew up and attended public schools in Meridian, Idaho, and graduated from Meridian High School. He earned his teaching certificate at Albion Normal School and graduated from the University of Idaho with his master's degree in Education Administration. Glenn taught school in Idaho Falls School District #91 and served as Principal of several schools including 22 years at Idaho Falls High School.
Glenn proudly served in the U. S. Coast Guard as a Seaman First Class during World War II.
On July 20, 1941, he married Lela Elna Brown in Idaho Falls. He and Lela were married nearly 51 years before she passed away on March 12, 1992.
Glenn was baptized a member of the Idaho Falls United Trinity Methodist Church in 1916, the year the church was opened. He was a member of the first Boy Scout Troop organized in Idaho and was active as a scout leader for many years. He was an avid reader, enjoyed painting and writing, and was a worldwide traveler well into his 90's.

Daughter, Glenda Lee (Robert) Gillins of Idaho Falls, ID;
Son, Larry Glenn (Gail) Manion of Colleyville, TX;
Brother, O. Gayle (Louise) Manion of Superior, WI;
8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2012, at the Idaho Falls LDS Rose Park Ward, 351 West 14th Street, with Bishop Dane Watkins Jr. officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be next to Lela in Rose Hill Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
