YORGASON Click here to view Glen's video tribute LA JOLLA, CA -- Glen Elbert Yorgason, 74, of Idaho Falls, passed away from surgical complications on Sunday, January 17, 2010, in La Jolla, California. Glen was born in Burlington, Wyoming, on April 14, 1934, the son of Ren Elbert Yorgason and Rosell Egan Yorgason. He lived in Wyoming until graduating from high school in 1953, followed by service in the U. S. Army as a General's Honor Guard and a Military Policeman. He served as a LDS mission in Western Canada from 1955-1957. Glen attended Brigham Young University and LA Trade Tech and became accomplished as a brick and stone mason. On June 25, 1982 he married Anita Sturman in Los Angeles, California. Glen attended the Los Angeles Fire Academy, where he began his 34 year career as a FFII. His favorite assignment was in the San Pedro Harbor on a fireboat. Glen and his family moved to Idaho Falls in 1998, upon his retirement from LA City Fire, where his life was filled with work, family, church, missionary work, scouts, and hobbies. He was thankful for great parents who taught him to stand for the right, to work hard, to never give up, and to serve others with a happy heart. He is survived by his eldest children: Glenda Lee Bisbee of Anaheim, CA and Sherrie Lynn Nehrenberg of Montrose, CA; his wife, Anita of Idaho Falls, and their four children: Leif Yorgason of Idaho Falls, Shanna Simpson of Salt Lake City, UT, Whitney Yorgason of Idaho Falls and Kara Yorgason of Idaho Falls; and four grandchildren: Krista, Stephanie, Sarah, and Kade. He is also survived by two brothers, Carl and Jim Yorgason; and two sisters, Arlene Schultz and Wanda Bennion. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 2010, at Wood Funeral Home East Side Chapel, 963 South Ammon Road, with Bishop Terry Orme of the Idaho Falls LDS Home Ranch Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday prior to services at Wood East Side. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and the Idaho Honor Guard. ---------------------------------------------------- Condolences received online: Calvin Munn cal_jeans@hotmail.com Sorry about your loss. I am down in Lousiana for the winter. Mark Riddoch riddoch@cableone.net Glen's life inspires me to be a better man. My memories of Glen will last forever. He was a true friend, a willing worker, and servant of many. His stories entertained and motivated our boys and our entire family as our faithful home teacher for many years. Glen was a man's man. I looked to him for strength and faith. His life has touched mine for the eternities and I thank God that he and his good family moved into our ward and fast became our good friends. Our prayers are with you Anita and with your loved ones. May God's love and Spirit encircle you and fill you with grand memories and hope for an eternal reunion. May Heavenly Father comfort you in your sorrow. You'll be in our prayers. Wade and Kim Smith We are so sorry to hear of your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We will miss Glen's smiling face and friendly waves. John Lay lay0643@sbcglobal.net I'm sorry to hear of the passing of Glen. I worked with him for several years at Fire Station 42. I enjoyed working with him each and every day. The guys always looked forward to enjoying the fresh bread he baked when we were on duty. I learned a lot from Glen about working with stone and brick. With deepest sympathy, John
