GLEN E. KOESTER
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Glen Ernest Koester, Age 79, of Idaho
Falls, passed away May 15, 2004, at the Idaho Falls Care Center of complications
related to Parkinson’s Disease.
Glen was born August 16, 1924, in Weeping Water, Nebraska,
the son of Fred Henry Koester and Mattie Nutzman Koester. The family moved
to Idaho Falls when he was two years old and he has lived here ever since.
He attended Eagle Rock Elementary School, O. E. Bell Jr. High School,
and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. Glen faithfully served in
the U. S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
He married Ruth Mae Adamson May 8, 1944, in Papillon,
Nebraska. He worked as a farmer, then at Lockwood and later for Simplot
Soil Builders, from which he retired in 1986 as District Manager.
Glen was active in the Masonic Lodge and Shriner organizations.
He was a member of the Idaho Falls Museum Committee, the American Legion,
the Idaho Potato Growers Association, the Board of Eastern Idaho Technical
College, and the Soil Conservation Board. Glen was awarded the Silver
Plow Award in 1996 from the Chamber of Commerce and was named Legionnaire
of the Year in 1995 by the American Legion.
He was a member of the Idaho Falls First Presbyterian
Church. Glen loved traveling, golf, and horses.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth, a son, Jerry [Karen] Koester
of Everett, WA, and a daughter, Claudia [Ken] Barnes of Idaho Falls, three
brothers, Edward [Miriam] Koester of Twin Falls, ID, Dale [Joanna] Koester
of Downey, ID, and Ron [Shirley] Koester of Idaho Falls. He is also survived
by his four grandchildren, Jamie Koester, Everett, WA, Kelli [Ryan] Ingram,
Lake Stevens, WA, Dr. Lindsey [Josh] Pepper, Minneapolis, MN, and Keri
Barnes of Boise, ID. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May
19, 2004, at the Idaho Falls First Presbyterian Church, 325 Elm Street,
with Reverend Dr. Dennis Falasco officiating.
The family will visit with friends on Wednesday for one
hour prior to the services at the church.
Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction
of Wood Funeral Home. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville
County Veterans Team.
