GLADYS SOUTHWICK
AMMON, ID -- Gladys Porter Southwick, 93, of Ammon, passed away July 25, 2005, at her home of causes incident to age.
She was born October 6, 1911, in Ora, Idaho, near Ashton, to Frederick Charles Porter and Stella Mariah Jeppson Porter. She grew up in Ora and attended the one-room school there. She graduated from Ashton High School, then went on to Ricks College, where she graduated with a teaching degree.
She married Glen Southwick June 8, 1933, in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. After their marriage they made their home in Ammon, where she was a homemaker and mother and worked as a teacher at Ammon Elementary School in School District #93 for 30 years. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. Glen passed away January 19, 1982.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in various callings in Sunday School, Primary, and Relief Society. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, oil painting, flower and vegetable gardening, fishing, vacation tours, and Idaho history.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Glen, two brothers, Frederick Vernon and Steven, and three sisters, Constance, Erma, and Mae.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2005, at the Ammon LDS 1st Ward, 3000 Central Avenue, with Bishop Jim Summers officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood East Side (963 S. Ammon)and Friday for one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
