Gladys Lydia (Mcgary) Hillman

Gladys Lydia McGary Hillman, 84, of Rigby, passed away May 12, 2024, at her apartment in MorningStar Senior Living of Idaho Falls.

Gladys was born in Shelley, Idaho, at her grandparent’s home on February 9, 1940, to Charles and Alice McGary. She grew up and attended schools in Bonneville and graduated from Bonneville High School.

On April 5, 1957, she married Gary Hillman in Lincoln, Idaho. To this union were born four children, Roxanne, Brent, Rochelle, and Monique. Gladys and Gary made their home in Rigby, Idaho, where they owned Hillman’s Home Improvements and Gift Shop.

Gladys was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, spending time with family, working in the yard, and traveling with Gary.

Gladys is survived by her daughter, Roxanne Welch (Rod) of Rigby, ID; son, Charles Brent Hillman (Linda) of Rigby, ID; daughter, Monique Brower (Greg) of Blackfoot, ID; 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Alice McGary; husband, Gary Hillman; daughter, Rochelle Hillman Smith; and all of her siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 6:30-8 p.m. and Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services, both visitations at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery.
