GLADYS CHRISTENSEN
TUALATIN, OR - Gladys Christensen, 99, of Taylor, Idaho,
died March 8, 2005, in Tualatin, Oregon.
She was born January 9, 1906, in Jameston, Idaho, to James Christensen
and Anna Laura Clark Christensen. She grew up and attended elementary
school in Jameston and graduated from Shelley High School.
She met the love of her life, Earl J. Christensen, and they were married
December 22, 1928, in Idaho Falls. They were the parents of two daughters.
They lived in Taylor and on their ranch in Wolverine during the summer
months. They raised sheep and cattle and were a great asset to the community.
He preceded her in death, after 58 years of marriage, August 26, 1987.
She enjoyed living in the hills, wood carving, crafts, sewing and reading.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, who always
had time for family and friends. She was affectionately called “Gram”
by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. “Gram, we love you.”
Starting in 1999, due to failing health and eyesight, she spent six months
with daughter, Beth, in Oregon and six months in Taylor with Karen and
Gary.
Surviving are:
Daughter: Beth Ann Rojas, Tualatin, OR
Daughter: Karen (Gary) Hanson, Idaho Falls, ID
7 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother and two
sisters.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2005, at
the Wood Chapel of the Pines, 273 North Ridge Avenue, Idaho Falls, with
Bishop Merrill Hanney of the Shelley LDS Taylor Ward officiating.
The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and
Thursday for one hour prior to services, both at Wood Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral
