On Thursday, April 23, 2026, our mom, Ginny Kathleen Yancey, passed away at EIRMC. She fought long and hard to be there for her family despite her cancer. We are grateful for the time we have had with her. That in itself has been a miracle. Although she is gone, we know that she is no longer in pain, and although she never became cancer free in this life, we know she has conquered it now. She is, and was, a great mother, and we look forward to the day that we can see her again as an eternal family.
Ginny was born November 10, 1974, in Provo, UT, to Michael Ray Wilkinson and Kathie B. Neibaur Sweet. She attended Northern Arizona University where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Speech Pathology and Audiology. She also attended Idaho State University where she earned a Master’s of Education in Special Education.
On December 29, 2004, she married Lynn DeVaughn Yancey in the Idaho Falls Temple. Ginny and Lynn made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Ginny worked as a Special Education teacher.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed writing, dancing, singing, reading, and doing cross stitch.
Ginny is survived by her husband, Lynn DeVaughn Yancey of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Daemon A. (Kalani) Yancey of Idaho Falls, ID, son, Isaac L. Yancey of Idaho Falls, ID, son, Alex J. Yancey of Idaho Falls, ID, daughter, Naomi K. Yancey of Idaho Falls, ID; mother, Kathie B. Sweet of Grace, ID; sister, Kristine N. (Terry) Stiffler of Pocatello, ID, sister, Kimberley D. Sweet of Grace, ID, brother, Joshua W. (Vonna) Sweet of Soda Springs, ID, brother, Jeremiah C. (Cherae) Sweet of Pocatello, ID; and nieces, nephews, and great nieces.
She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Ray Wilkinson; grandparents, Clyde and Norma Neibaur, Wayne and Virginia Wilkinson; and brother, Israel C. Wilkinson.
