Gilberto Martinez

Gilberto "Beto" Martinez, 58, of Idaho Falls, passed away January 17, 2019, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Beto was born June 7, 1960, in Puerto Colorado, Zimapan Hidalgo, Mexico, to Juvencio Martinez Garcia and Juliana Martinez Ramirez. He grew up in Mexico and moved to the United States in 1977.

On February 14, 1986, he married Maria de los Angeles in Helena, Montana. To this union were born four sons, Roberto, Juan, Miguel, and Gustavo. Beto and Maria made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Beto worked as a supervisor on a farm.

He was a very devoted member of the Catholic Church. He believed God and the Virgin Mary were real. He loved his family and was very family oriented. He loved spending time with his kids going hunting, shooting, fishing, and going to Fort Hall to gamble.

Beto is survived by his loving wife, Maria Martinez of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Roberto Carlos (Kathryn) Martinez of Iona, ID; son, Juan Manuel (Kendra) Martinez of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Miguel Angel Martinez of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Gustavo Adolfo Martinez of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Pablo Martinez (Silvia) Martinez of Zimapan Hildalgo, Mexico; brother, Augustin Martinez (Anna Maria) Martinez of Zimapan Hildalgo, Mexico; brother, Lorenzo Martinez (Teresa) Martinez of Zimapan Hildalgo, Mexico; sister, Lourdes Martinez (Raymondo) Martinez of Progreso, Mexico; and 13 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Juana Martinez, brother, Filogono Martinez, and sister, Enriqueta Martinez. A funeral mass and rosary will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2019, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, corner of 9th and Lee, with Father Jose de Jesus Gonzalez, officiating. Please check back for times and dates. A Rosary will take place at 6:00 p.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends until 8:30 p.m. following the Rosary. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
