Geraldine Mae Davis, 83, of Rigby, Idaho, passed away April 25, 2015, at her home. She was under the care of Aspen Home Health & Hospice.
Geraldine was born February 25, 1932, in the LDS Hospital in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Gerald Emerson Mack and Grace Vidella Hackworth Mack. She grew up in a happy home with loving parents and an ample supply of aunts, uncles and grandparents all around her. Geraldine loved school. She served in leadership positions while in high school and her favorite memory was of being a staff writer on the newspaper at Idaho Falls High.
Following graduation, she married Gerald Forest Edwards and they had three children. The couple divorced in 1965 and she later married the love of her life, William Seward Davis, a widowed father of three. Finding themselves with six children, what else could the couple do but take the kids along on their honeymoon. In mid-April, the family honeymooned in Yellowstone National Park. They were the only guests at the Mammoth Hotel, which was probably a good thing. The six kids had a really great time.
Geraldine and Bill moved to Boise in May of 1969. They built a stable home that allowed six children to grow up and go out in the world on their own. They also provided a safe place to fall back to when the world became tough. They lived in the home on Twin Springs for twenty-five years; the scene of many outstanding family parties.
Geraldine learned to love her neighborhood community. Bill and Geraldine belonged to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and were called to what Geraldine felt was the best calling anyone could ever have: she and Bill served at the Heritage Assisted Living Home and were responsible for Sunday meetings there. Geraldine also called Bingo twice a week while Bill did the "home" teaching.
Geraldine loved camping, fishing, golf, and traveling the world with her husband. They had fun together. Bill passed away in 1999 and a couple of years later, Geraldine moved home to the valley where she’d grown up, with her daughter's family in Rigby. This past week, Geraldine, a daughter, and two granddaughters drove to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, for lunch. Geraldine was thrilled to see spring greening up the dry farms, the trees, and Palisades.
She is survived by four children: Shauna Kathleen Smith from WA, Patricia Susan King from Boise, ID; James Richard Davis from Buhl, ID; and Cynthia Ann Edwards from Grant, ID. Thirteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great great grandchild will remember her fondly. She is preceded in death by her husband, William S. Davis; two children, Jeffrey Mack Edwards (Boise) and Robert Davis (Boise); and a great grand-child, Ashlee Andrews (Rigby).
