Click Here To View Memorial Video Gerald “Gerry” Duane Merrell, 91, of Idaho Falls, passed away on January 20, 2015, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was born August 21, 1923, in Ripley County, Missouri to Cecil O. Merrell and Merritt E. Colley Merrell. He grew up in Missouri and Ohio and graduated from Garfield High School in Akron, Ohio. He also attended Watchmaking School in Paducah, Kentucky. He served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal during World War II. In 1950, he moved to Idaho Falls where he worked at the Atomic Energy Commission for General Electric. He later became a realtor and worked in the real estate business. He served as President of the Idaho Falls Association of Realtors and was active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. He married Wanda Dulaney and she preceded him in death. He married Mary K. Praxel. They had three children together and were later divorced. On March 23, 1973, he married Dorothy “Mickey” Mildred Hart in Sun Valley, Idaho. They were totally committed to each other and enjoyed 41 years of blissful marriage. He was a devout member of the Church of Christ. He enjoyed playing golf and spent a lot of happy days on the links. Survivors are: Wife: Mickey Merrell, Idaho Falls, ID Son: Bill (Carol) Merrell, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Kay Merrell, Idaho Falls, ID Son: Steve (Debbi) Kanatzar, Colorado Springs, CO Daughter: Kathy Kanatzar, Boise, ID Son: Doug Kanatzar, Boise, ID Son: Gary Dulaney, Minnesota Sister: Elaine Peterson, Vancouver, WA 10 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Wanda and Mary K.; and a son, Robert Gerald Merrell. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon) with Steve Kanatzar officiating. The family will visit with friends from 12:30 p.m. until time of service. Following the service, military rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and Idaho Honor Guard. A gathering with refreshments will be held after the military rites. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Church of Christ, c/o Wood Funeral Home, P.O. Box 51434, Idaho Falls, ID 83405.

Following the service, military rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and Idaho Honor Guard. A gathering with refreshments will be held after the military rites.
