Gerald Emerson Mack, age 101, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, December 1, 2011.
Gerald was born October 21, 1910 in Shenandoah, Iowa to Charles Frederick Mack and Virginia Mae Head Mack. The family moved to Idaho when he was six years old. He attended school in St. Anthony and Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School.
After high school, Gerald began working for Cal-Pak Corp. It later became Del Monte Corp. And he spent his entire work history there. He retired in 1975 as an Area Superintendent-West Coast Seed Operation. He was a member and officer of Idaho - Eastern Idaho Seed Operation.
In August of 1930, Gerald married Grace Hackworth and they made their home in Idaho Falls. Two children were born to their marriage: David John Mack, who passed away at birth, and Geraldine Mae Davis. Grace passed away in Boise, Idaho in June of 1984. On November 16, 1990, Gerald married Lois Elaine Herd Hoffman in Ucon. Lois joined him in Boise, where they lived for 16 years until 2006, when they moved to Ammon.
Gerald was an avid reader and enjoyed all things outdoors – especially pine trees and mountains. He loved traveling and spending time with his family. He became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 2007. He said that his only regret was that he should have joined sooner.
