GEORGIA ECKERSLEY
SANDY, UT -- Georgia Dees Eckersley, 91, died peacefully on June 17, 2005, in Sandy, Utah, and joined her beloved husband, Jay, who preceded her in death eight years ago.
Georgia was one of five children born to George and Lenora Hulet Dees on February 3, 1914, in Dayton, Idaho. She is survived by her two children, Carole Webster (Michael) of Ivins, Utah, and Elaine Turley (Harold) of Sandy, Utah. She has eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a baby son, Keith Jay, her parents, three brothers, Eldon, Wayne, and Glen Dees, a sister, Barbara Robison, a grandson, Kent Southwick, and a great-grandson, Brant Bowman.
Georgia married Jay Dean Eckersley on July 20, 1935, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. They set a wonderful example of love and devotion to all who knew them.
Georgia and Jay raised their family in Lincoln and Idaho Falls and moved to Rigby in 1972. They loved their home on the Grant Road, where they had a beautiful garden and yard. After retirement they enjoyed the warmth and sunshine of southern Utah, where they owned a home in Washington. Georgia was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served diligently in many callings. She has always had a special gift with children and especially enjoyed serving as the Primary President for over nine years. It was at this time that she formed life-long friendships with a lovely group of women. She especially appreciated her friend, Nelda Jensen, who continued to call and write to her until she died.
Georgia was truly an elite lady, who was loved by all from the elderly to the smallest of children. She was a kind and loving woman and will be missed so very much by her family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, Idaho Falls, with her son-in-law, Harold Turley, officiating.
