George Hollace Johnson, 82, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 13, 2026, at his home.
George was born March 20, 1944, in Shelley, Idaho, to Leon Johnson and Sarah Avoca Ladd Johnson. He grew up and attended schools in Firth and graduated from Firth High School. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. While in the service he was decorated with the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Expert Rifleman.
On October 27, 1983, he married Michelle Herrera in Idaho Falls, Idaho. George and Michelle made their home in Idaho Falls, where George worked as a roofer and artist.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, artwork, his family, and going out to coffee.
George is survived by his wife, Michelle H. Johnson of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Lexie Johnson of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Michael Johnson of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Melissa Gutierrez of Tucson, AZ; daughter, Jessica Bird of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Matthew Johnson of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Myrriah Johnson of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Gail Nichols of Rigby, ID; brother, Garth John Johnson of Goshen, ID; sister, Shauna (Mike) Feiock of Seattle, WA; sister, Gina (Gary) Mullendore of Seattle, WA; sister, Patty Romero of Seattle, WA; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Johnson; mother, Sarah Avoca Ladd Johnson; and brother, Randy Johnson.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue in Idaho Falls. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery. Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
