FORFAR IDAHO FALLS, ID -- George Thompson Forfar, 81, of Idaho Falls, died December 5, 2001, at Riverview Assisted Living of lung disease. He was born May 11, 1920, at North Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada, to William Henry U. Forfar and Agnes Sandison Forfar. He grew up in Montreal, then moved to Toronto. He attended the McKay School for the Deaf in Montreal. He married Barbara Mae Parker July 15, 1955, at Toronto, Canada. After their marriage they moved to Los Angeles, California, where they lived for 40 years. He worked as a Link Belt Machinist in Canada for 14 years, then as an Engine Lathe Machinist for Armco Steel in Torrance, California for 26 years. They came to Idaho Falls after he retired. He served as President of the Deaf Bowling Association in Southern California and was a member of the Drama Club for the Deaf in Canada for 15 years. He enjoyed poker parties with his deaf friends. A wonderful deep-sea fisherman, he was proud of landing a 140 lb. White Marlin in Tahiti and a 66 lb. Bull Dolphin in Mazatlan, Mexico. He loved being a Grandpa to Amanda, Brianne, and Gavin Reed, and Taylor Myers. Surviving are:Wife: Barbara Forfar, Idaho Falls, IDDaughter: Debbie [Michael] Reed, Idaho Falls, IDDaughter: Janice [Tony] Caper, Derby, KS 4 Grandchildren Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2001, at the Wood Chapel of the Pines. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the services on Saturday at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, Idaho Falls, Idaho 83402-4092.
