Gene Forbes

Orval Eugene "Gene" Forbes, 72, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully September 26, 2016, at his home.

Gene was born March 25, 1944, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Orval Martin Forbes and Eleda Wilde Forbes. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1962. He earned his Eagle Scout Award on June 29, 1958.

In 1961, he married Valaura Hartwell in Idaho Falls, Idaho.To this union were born three children, Troy, Trina, and Tracy. They later divorced.

On December 23, 1981, he married Deanna "Dee" Johnson in Idaho Falls. Gene and Dee made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Gene worked as a used car dealer. Gene and Dee were later divorced.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, precision shooting, and the great outdoors.

Gene is survived by his son, Troy Eugene Forbes of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Trina Lynn (Scott Glanville) Forbes of Portland, ME; daughter, Tracy Ann (Jeff) Reali of South Portland, ME; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., both times at the funeral home.
