Quentin ‘Gene’ Barrett, 75, of Idaho Falls, passed away October 10, 2016, at his home. He was under the care of his loving family and Abode Home Health and Hospice.

Gene was born September 29, 1941, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Quentin Don Barrett and Belva Bingham Barrett. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Ricks College. Gene served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War and was a member of VFW Post 2146.

On December 16, 1977, he married Brenda Lee Bentley in Idaho Falls, Idaho. To this union were born three children, Annie, Traci and Jamie. Gene and Brenda made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Gene worked as a concrete finisher.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Gene enjoyed working on concrete and was a member of the Good Ole Boys Club at the R-R Bar. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Quentin is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Brenda Barrett of Idaho Falls, ID; mother, Belva Hathway of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Annie (Dennis) Fox of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Traci (Lucas) Calhoun of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Jamie (Travis) Steele of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Judy Garner of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Gary Barrett of Idaho Falls, ID; and 12 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father; granddaughters, Caitlyn and Mackenzie; and a grandson, Noah.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2016, at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge). The family will visit with friends from 1-1:45 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Following the services military rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to any Westmark Credit Union in his name.
