Gayle Boone

Gayle Barnett Boone, 62, of Ucon, Idaho, passed away January 13, 2018, at the home of her son in Ammon. She was under the care of Aspen Hospice. Gayle was born August 5, 1955, in Tooele, Utah, to Heber J. and Dora Shields Barnett. She grew up in Caliente, Nevada, and graduated valedictorian from Lincoln County High School. After graduating from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, she served a mission for the LDS Church in the Maritime provinces of Canada. She managed a credit union branch, and served as a nanny in the Eastern United States. Gayle accepted these and many other challenges in her life. On October 3, 1986, in the Salt Lake Temple, she married Hyrum Flake Boone of Ucon, a widower with ten children ages 1 to 16. She was called upon to help nurture Marylynn (Jordan) Goudy, Elizabeth (Dee Jay) Radford, Hyrum Rupp (Kristin), Todd (Aura), Lucy (Brad) Gamett, Dale (Jessie), Legrand (Theresa), Caroline (Jay) Vickery, Suzanne (Jake) Munk, Camilla (Paul) Kartchner, and also became mother to James (Nicole), Dawn (Jarom) Judy, Adam (Nicole), Sharon, Merry Gayle, and Stephen. Her entire married life was spent in Ucon, Idaho. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in many callings, but her favorite was in the nursery. She was notable for her dedicated visiting teaching and consistent loving presence in her beloved nursery work. She helped send nine children on LDS missions, and the first two grandchildren are now serving. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and tatting. Gayle read much, and attended very very many athletic events, especially wrestling. She also supported the family’s two co-ed softball teams in the Idaho Falls City League. In the past year she saw over fifty members of her immediate family play on organized teams in various sports. Gayle was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Eileen, and three grandchildren. She is survived by her sister, Leeanna, brothers, David, Ron, and Gary, her husband, sixteen children, forty-six grandchildren, and over a hundred nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 12 Noon Saturday, January 20, 2018, at the Ucon LDS Stake Center, 2967 East 105th North, Idaho Falls, with Bishop Jason Ward officiating.
