Gary Joe Triplett, 85, of Idaho Falls, passed away January 29, 2024, at his home. He was under the care of his loving family and Hands of Hope Hospice.
Gary was born March 28, 1938, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Joseph Grant Triplett and LaRee Olive Roylance. He grew up and attended schools in Kennewick, Washington. He served in the United States Navy as an electrician from 1956-1960. He was finally discharged with his obligated service in 1962.
On March 22, 1974, he married Verlene Orr in Egin, Idaho. Gary and Verlene made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Gary worked as an electrician for IBEW and was owner of G&R Electric.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was an avid reader. He and his wife, Verlene, enjoyed traveling and were world travelers. Gary enjoyed scuba diving and fishing with his son.
He is survived by his wife, Verlene Triplett of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Gary Triplett of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Ida (Michael) Wilson of West Jordan, UT; sister, Judy Hollenbaugh of Ammon, ID; 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Triplett; mother, LaRee Epperson; and son, Robert Dean Triplett.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the Idaho Falls 31st Ward, 1165 Azalea Drive, with Bishop Bob Bidstrup officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Parker Cemetery where Military Honors will be performed by American Legion Post 22 and the Navy Honor Guard.
