Gary Smith

Gary Elwin Smith, 42, of Menan, passed away February 19, 2011, of lingering heart disease, while snowmobiling at Dry Creek near Spencer, Idaho. Gary was born September 18, 1968, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Teddy Leland Smith and Beverly Ellen McLane Smith. He grew up in Rigby and graduated from Rigby High School. He also attended Eastern Idaho Technical College. Gary married Wendy Reese in December, 1987, and they had two children, Ashley and Robert. They were later divorced. Gary married the love of his life, his best friend and lifelong companion, Wanda Joy Lange, on January 18, 2003, in Bonneville County, Idaho. He worked as a feeder driver for UPS in Jackson, Wyoming. He had also worked for Ted Smith Trucking and HK Contractors. Gary loved snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, motorcycles, riding his Harley, and 4-wheeling. He and Wanda had two St. Bernard's, Harley and Ms. Davidson, whom he dearly loved, but most important above everything else was his family. Gary is survived by his loving wife, Wanda, three daughters, Ashley (Jeff) Smith of Bozeman, Montana, Kayla (Marc) Binggeli, and Chelsie (Cruz) Conrad, both of Idaho Falls; two sons, Robert (Leslie) Smith of Rigby, and Jayson Binggeli of Idaho Falls; his parents, Ted & Beverly Smith of Rigby; two sisters, Cindy (Larry) Rehaume of Palmdale, California, and Charlotte (Troy) Moore of Idaho Falls; and two grandchildren, Brooklyn Conrad and Chance Smith. He was preceded death by his grandparents and a sister, Teddi Rae Smith. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 26, 2011, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, with David Briggs officiating. The family will visit with friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, both at Wood East Side. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park.
