Gary D. Sessions, 83, passed away March 25, 2018, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Gary was born March 22, 1935, in Lansing, Michigan. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for three years. Gary continued his career working as a Senior Field Service Engineer for IBM Corporation for 35 years in Lansing. Besides being a member of St. John Paul II Parish in Idaho Falls and St. Jude’s Parish in DeWitt, he was previously active for over 40 years in many organizations at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish in Lansing. He enjoyed attending many retreats at the Portiuncula in the Pines Retreat House in DeWitt. Gary was kind, loving, thoughtful and always there for his family. He enjoyed photography, his membership at The Michigan Conservation Club, traveling and taking his family on many camping trips. While living in Idaho, he loved telling stories and facts about Michigan, his home state. Many wonderful memories will be cherished by his family and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Abe and Mary VanPeenen, his brother, Eugene, and sister, Carole (Jim) deVries. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Florence; sons, Kirk D. (Jane) Sessions, Mark J. Sessions; daughters, Gwendolyn M. Donahue, Maureen A. Killeen, Karen C. (Joe) Weber, and Kristena L. (Greg) Williams; 12 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at EIRMC for their kindness and loving care during Gary’s stay. The Rite of Committal will be at the St. Joseph Mausoleum.
