Gary Wayne Randall, age 63 of Rigby, passed away unexpectedly Friday, August 17, 2018, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, after falling ill at home on Thursday. He was surrounded by his loved ones as he returned home. Gary was born the only child to Jerome Wayne Randall and Ruby Squires in Nampa, Idaho, on February 22, 1955. He attended Eagle Jr. High and graduated from Meridian High in 1973. Shortly after graduation, he met and married Cynthia Lee Thompson in Boise. To this marriage, Zachary Wayne Randall (Rigby) and Steve Wayne Randall (Boise) were born. They later divorced, and in 1982, Gary married Cynthia Ann Edwards, with whom two more children were born, Katie Elizabeth Randall (Rigby) and Jeffrey Gerald Wayne Randall (Idaho Falls). He was also a step-father to Emily Kathleen Neilson (Idaho Falls) and Stephanie Ann Neilson (Texas). Gary worked as a truck driver for J Weil food company for several years and later in the kitchen of several restaurants before he went to work at the State Street Albertson’s in downtown Boise. He worked hard there for 14 years, becoming manager of the maintenance department, a job he truly loved. He later moved to Idaho Falls to retire. Gary had a passion for music and joined a band in high school where he played the drums. He was a dedicated fan of Jimmy Buffet and loved to emulate his style. He was a talented artist and spent hours drawing. He spent much of his retirement sketching faces, characters and scenes of nature and would work on pieces and then gift them to his friends and family who admired them. He was also an avid sports fan his whole life. He enjoyed drag racing, professional wrestling, and hockey, but his passion was football. He was most loyal to Boise State Broncos and his Philadelphia Eagles. Much of his life was enjoying these simple pleasures. He loved to fish and camp and be with his children while enjoying his passions. He was outspoken and opinionated but fiercely loyal to those he loved the most. He was preceded in death by his parents and a step granddaughter, Ashlee Grace Andrews. He is survived by six children and eight grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at the Rigby 9th Ward, 258 W. 1st N., in Rigby, with Bishop Stephen L. Richins, officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.
