Gary H Lythgoe, 88, of Idaho Falls, passed away November 28, 2024, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center after suffering a stroke.
Gary was born April 18, 1936, in Worland, Wyoming, to Eldred Harrop Lythgoe and Grace Bernice Tolman Lythgoe. He grew up and attended schools in Montana and graduated from Brigham Young University. He received his Master's Degree from Eastern Montana College.
On November 17, 1962, he married Jean Frances Bond in the Mesa, Arizona LDS temple. Gary and Jeannie raised their family in Billings, Montana. He was a manager at Job Service and a counselor at the Mental Health Center. He was a Licensed Professional Counselor and he later retired to Idaho Falls, Idaho.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a Temple Sealer for many years in both Billings and Idaho Falls. He enjoyed fishing, spending time outdoors, going on walks, and doing missionary work. He loved being with family. Gary and Jeannie celebrated their 62nd Anniversary in November and Gary's greatest joy was caring for Jeannie.
Gary is survived by his wife, Jeannie Lythgoe of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Derek (Janet) Lythgoe of Gilbert, AZ; son, Kyle (Rhonda) Lythgoe of Whitewood, SD; son, Dean (Cecilia) Lythgoe of Cedar Hills, UT; daughter, Jill (Monte) Williams of Kimberly, ID; son, Chad (Dawna) Lythgoe of Woods Cross, UT; daughter, Charrise (Stefan) Bateman of Rigby, ID; and his sister, Susie (Steve) Zundel of St. Anthony, ID; 21 grandchildren,16 great grandchildren, and two on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldred and Grace Lythgoe; siblings, Donna Petersen and Tom Lythgoe; and his grandson, Brandon Lythgoe.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 6, 2024, at the Idaho Falls Stake Center, 1155 1st Street, with President Brian Schultz officiating. A viewing and an opportunity to visit with family will be offered from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Annis-Little Butte Cemetery. Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Navy Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, Gary has requested that donations be made to the LDS Missionary Fund.
