Gary Jones, 64, of Ammon, passed away July 26, 2012, at his home. He was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice and his loving family.
Gary was born May 12, 1948. in Malad, Idaho, to Fay Eugene Jones and Emma Ruth Burton Jones. Gary attended schools in Downey, graduated from Marsh Valley High School, and furthered his education at Reedley College, Brigham Young University and Idaho State University. He graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in Education Administration, Masters in Public Administration, and Doctorate in Education Administration.
On June 25, 1971, he married Marsha Brighton in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple and together they raised their family of five children. Gary worked for 21years as a bread route salesman, taught education classes at ISU and worked in Data Analysis. He worked in the Bonneville School District for the past 10 years as an administrator.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served a two-year full time mission in Southern California. He served in several Elders Quorum Presidencies, was High Priest Secretary, music director and a choir soloist.
Music was an important part of his life which included performances in the musical theater productions of Fiddler of the Roof where he was Tevya, King Arthur in Camelot, and the Pirate King in the Pirates of Penzance. Gary also enjoyed playing golf and being with his family and grandchildren.

Brother, Buddy (Bonnie) Jones of Downey, ID;
Brother, Layne Jones of Pocatello, ID;
Sister, Anita Jones of Pocatello, ID;
14 Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lance Jones, and his grandparents, Donald and Ione Burton.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2012 at the Ammon LDS Stake Center, 2055 S. Ammon Road, with Randy Wadsworth of the Ammon 5th Ward officiating. The family will visit friends Sunday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. at the Downey Cemetery.
