Gary Jenks

David Gary Jenks, 72, of Idaho Falls, passed away October 7, 2012, at Life Care Center of Idaho Falls of cancer and complications of a stroke. Gary was born September 18, 1940, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the son of Rulon Bell Jenks and Gladys Orella Gardner Jenks. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He also attended Ricks College. On September 15, 1967, he married Joyce Marie Keller in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home in Idaho Falls. Gary worked at Fergie’s Marina during high school and college and later at KIFI Radio. He worked for NRF, then as a Health Physics Technician for Argonne National Lab at the INL and retired as Chief Technician in 2003. Gary was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in leadership positions in the Elders Quorum and High Priest Group. He also served as Ward Clerk and High Councilman in the Idaho Falls Central Stake. In his youth he served a full-time mission for the LDS Church in the North British Mission. Gary enjoyed cars, motorcycles, and target shooting. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Joyce Jenks of Idaho Falls, Daughter, TyRee Jenks of Billings, MT; Daughter, Desiree (Kenneth) Jenks-Asay of Davis, CA; Daughter, Brandee Jenks of Idaho Falls, ID; Brother, William (Marlene) Jenks of Sacramento, CA; Brother, Erwin (JoAnn) Jenks of San Diego, CA; Sister-In-Law, Elva Jenks of Salt Lake City, UT; 3 grandchildren, Ariana, Devyn, and Kai He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, two brothers, Leon and Ray, and his in-laws. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and Thursday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at Idaho Falls LDS Central Stake Center, 2025 Jennie Lee Drive. Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the church, with Bishop Kenneth Rhode of the 26th Ward officiating. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
