GARY HASTINGS IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Gary Duane Hastings, 65, of Idaho Falls, died August 8, 2004, at his home of cancer. He was under the care of the Aspen Foundation for Hospice Care. He was born July 29, 1939, in Riverside, California, to Lester Lyle Hastings and Mildred Louise Brock Hastings. When he was young the family moved to Roberts, Idaho, where he grew up and attended schools. He graduated from Roberts High School, then attended Ricks College and Idaho State University. He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He married Cerena Sue Ritter November 19, 1966, in Idaho Falls. He farmed in Roberts for 31 years. He also owned and operated Hastings Farm Service and, in later years, worked with the New Sweden Irrigation District. He lived in American Falls for two years and Idaho Falls for 26 years. He was a Christian. He was a member and had served as President of the Roberts Lions Club and was a member of the Bass Club. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, Cody Wayne Nolan, Taylor Lynn Nolan, and Ashley Nicole Hastings, as well as fishing and golf. Surviving are: Wife: Sue Hastings, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Candace Moehnke, Idaho Falls, ID Son: Brock Hastings, Idaho Falls, ID Mother: Mildred Hastings, Idaho Falls, ID Brother: David Lyle Hastings, Temecula, CA Sister: Karen Mae (Jim) Carleton, Idaho Falls, ID 3 Grandchildren Preceded in death by his grandparents and his father, Lester Lyle Hastings. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2004, at the Wood Chapel of the Pines, 273 North Ridge Avenue, Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Wednesday for one hour prior to services, both at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge). Burial will be in Ririe-Shelton Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.
