Gary Doss

Gary Eugene Doss, 70, of Idaho Falls, passed away June 1, 2018, at his home. He was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice. Gary was born January 9, 1948, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to Earl Winston Doss and Earman Mason Doss. He grew up and attended schools in Fort Smith and Taft, California, and graduated from Taft Union High School. He also attended Taft College and earned his Associates Degree. In 1969, he joined the United States Army and served as a combat infantryman during the Vietnam War and was an E5 Sergeant. On August 17, 1968, he married Nancy Walter in Taft, California. To this union were born three children, Gregory, Lauri, and Shana. Gary and Nancy made their home in Taft. Gary and Nancy also lived in Chico and Ventura, California, and Georgia before moving to Idaho Falls eleven years ago. He worked as an Oil Production Operator for Shell Oil. Gary attended the Calvary Baptist Church. He enjoyed classic trucks, camping, hunting, gardening, playing guitar and singing. Gary was very much a family man. He loved and adored his family and spending time with them was the most important thing in the world to him. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Nancy Doss of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Gregory Shane Doss of Porterville, CA; daughter, Lauri M. Hayes of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Shana C. Berrington of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Earlene Doss; grandchildren, Tori A. Hayes, Bethany E. Berrington, Brydon T. Hayes, Noah W. Berrington, Kiera-Ashley S. Berrington, and Joel D. Berrington; and one great-granddaughter, Ella D. Hayes. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Earman Doss; and sisters, Wilma Koontz-Kytola and Connie L. Pagnini. Per his request, no services will be held.
