Memorial Tribute Video Gary Gene Coles, 79, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 14, 2017, at his home in Milo. He was under the care of his loving family, Abode Home Health and Hospice and Aspen Home Health and Hospice.

Gary was born April 7, 1938, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to LeRoy Benjamin Coles and Cora Veda Ellis Coles. He grew up in Milo and attended Ucon Elementary and graduated from Bonneville High School. He also attended Utah State University and Ricks College. Gary served in the US Army where he did Basic Training in Fort Ord, California. He was honorably discharged and earned the ranking of Sergeant.

On April 19, 1963, he married Kaye Marene Peterson in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. To this union were born ten children. Gary and Kaye made their home in Milo, Idaho, where Gary was a farmer and rancher.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a two year mission in the Eastern States Mission. Gary also served as Counselor in the Bishopric, High Council, Bishop, Counselor in the Stake Presidency and High Priest Group Leader. Gary served as a Scout Master for the Boys Scouts of America. He enjoyed photography, hunting, fishing, woodworking, welding, telling stories and most of all sports. He also collected Red Ryder BB Guns and Red Ryder comic books. He loved farming and ranching so much that it was his life long passion and career.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Kaye Coles of Milo, ID; son, Gregory Gene (Katrina) Coles of Milo, ID; daughter, Kaylene Michel (Jason) Sawyer of Salem, OR; daughter, Kimarie Dee (Jason) Howard of Carey, ID; son, Nathan Gary (Kristine) Coles of Lehi, UT; son, Jonathan Jim (Megan) Coles of Milo, ID; daughter, Kari Jean (Adam) Johnson of Carey, ID; son, Barkley Jeff (Amber) Coles of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Kammie Lyn (Trever) Turpin of Ucon, ID; daughter, Kayla Jo (Erik) Parker of Dagmar, MT; son, Tyson James (Stefanie) Coles of Milo, ID; brother, Reed (Inez) Coles of West Jordan, Utah; brother, Brent (Roseann) Coles of Greenleaf, ID; sister, Beverly (Mike) Stoker of Meridian, ID; and 38 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Derold B. Coles, sister, Arlene Remington, and his in-laws, Yale and Glendora Peterson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the Foothill LDS Ward, 12127 N. 75th East, with Bishop Earl Killian Officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave, and Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior at the church. Burial will be in the Milo Cemetery.

Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
