Gary Bourne

Gary Lee Bourne, 85, of Idaho Falls, passed away on October 25, 2018, at his home surrounded by family. Gary was born August 12, 1933, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Oran Hazen Bourne and Bertha LaDeen Baxter Bourne. During Gary’s early years, he served for four years in the United State Navy aboard the destroyer, USS James C. Owens 776. He went around the world and served during the Korean War. Gary married his high school sweetheart, Esther Roberta "Bobbie" Taylor on April 24, 1953, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were married for 65 years until his lovely bride passed away last month. Gary spent most of his career working at the Idaho National Laboratory as a Nuclear Chemist. Gary and Bobbie had four children, David, Diane, Don, and Debbie. Gary and Bobbie made their home in Idaho Falls. Their oldest child was a special needs child and Gary and Bobbie cared for him for over 60 years. Gary was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren. His life was centered around his family and he spent a lot of quality time camping, boating and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a hard worker and was very orderly and organized. He enjoyed staying up late talking with his wife. Gary is survived by his four children: son, David Bourne of Idaho Falls, Idaho; daughter, Diane (Bill) of Richland, Washington; son, Don (LeAnn) of Shelley, Idaho; daughter, Debbie (Leonard) of Idaho Falls, Idaho; brother, Hal Bourne; sister, Joan Perron; 14 grandchildren and 21 ½ great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oren and LaDeen Bourne; brothers, Dell and Dennis; and sisters, Bonnie and Laurel.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, with Brian Wood officiating. The family will visit with friends from 1-1:45 p.m. prior to services. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery where Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and the Navy Honor Guard.

2:00 PM ,Saturday, November 3, 2018 Wood Funeral Home East Side 963 South Ammon Road Idaho Falls, ID 83406 Notes: The family will visit with friends from 1-1:45 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
