Gary Evington Beckman, 77, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 24, 2012, at his home. He was under the care of Idaho Home Health and Hospice. Gary was born November 9, 1934, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the son of Alfred Harper and June Poole Harper. Their family lived in Utah, Idaho, and California where he attended local schools including Davis County High School in Utah. Some of Gary’s fondest memories were of growing up in a household full of rowdy brothers, and spending summers working on his Uncle Hawley’s farm in Montpelier, Idaho along with his cousin, Don. Gary served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War. On October 6, 1967, he married Sandra K. Kirby in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on November 27, 2010. He worked as a carpenter by trade and as a salesman and repairman. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Gary enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking, model trains, coin and gun collecting, and an occasional trip to Jackpot, NV. Survivors are: Wife: Sandi Beckman, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Tami Beckman, Magna, UT Daughter: Lois (Kevin) Murphy, Magna, UT Daughter: Jo Ann McKean, Salt Lake City, UT Daughter: Tracy Mutter, Magna, UT Daughter: Radene (Sid) Huntsman, Grant, ID Daughter: Niki (Trent) Jensen, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Dani (Rod) Frank, Meridian, ID Brother: David Harper Brother: Brett Harper 19 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Norman Harper and Lorin Harper; and a son-in-law, Arthur Mutter. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff at Idaho Home Health and Hospice, and to caregivers McKenna Lee, Briana Tustian, and Amy Parsons. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2012, at the Idaho Falls LDS 11th Ward Building (1235 Juniper Dr.) with Bishop Kenneth Rohde, of the Idaho Falls 26th Ward, officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon) and on Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery with military rites by the Idaho Honor Guard.
