Gary Barnes

Gary Edward “Jax” Barnes, 44, of Boise, passed away April 21, 2011 at his home. Jax was born August 3, 1966, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Ronald Jim Barnes and Susan Kay Nadauld Barnes. He graduated from Bonneville High School, attended Ricks College, and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Brigham Young University. He married Sandra Chung-Hua Day on November 23, 1985 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. To this union were born Katie, Tyson and Kassie. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Young Men’s organization and in the Primary. Jax enjoyed working with the youth hockey program in Boise. In his honor, prior to the start of the Steelhead Hockey Game at the Qwest Arena in Boise on April 22nd, a moment of silence was observed. He was truly loved and respected by the youth he coached and the coaches with whom he worked. He is survived by: Daughter: Katie Chung-Hua Barnes of Boise, ID; Son: Tyson Aaron Barnes of Boise, ID; Daughter: Kassie Marie Barnes of Boise, ID; Parents: Ronnie & Susan Nadauld Barnes of Iona, ID; Brothers: Daryn James Barnes of Nampa, ID, Gregory Scott Barnes of Iona, ID; Sisters: Marcy (Barnes) Dale of Idaho Falls, ID, Jenny (Barnes) Martinez of West Richland, WA; Grandmother: Clea Nadauld Browning of Idaho Falls, ID. He was preceded in death by his grandfather,Wallace Max Nadauld; and grandparents Orville and Margorie Barnes. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery. A memorial service is being planned for the Boise area on Thursday, April 28, 2011.
