Garth Lenrie Campbell

Garth Lenrie Campbell, 83, passed away May 17, 2024 in Pasco, Washington, following an extended illness.

He was born May 5, 1941, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Alma Lenrie and Emily Roberts Campbell. Garth was the second of 7 children - Allan, Peggy, Richard, Newell, Opal and Dirk. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School, class of 1959 - the first class at IFHS in the Holmes Avenue building. He later attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, and served an L.D.S. mission in upstate New York.

Garth was married to Rochelle Huntsman on Nov. 21, 1962, in Idaho Falls. Afterward he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving at Eglin Air Force Base and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. He was named Airman of the Month at both bases. They lived near the base in Cocoa Beach, Florida for two years, where they selected Stephanie, their oldest daughter. They went on to have five more children, Kathy, David, Becky, Joseph and Perrin. Garth and Rochelle lived many other places, but always considered southeast Idaho as home. They lived from 1995 until 2022 in Basalt, Idaho.

Garth ran track in high school and liked to picnic at parks in the area and enjoyed coaching sports and serving as umpire at community softball leagues in Idaho Falls. He loved to travel and take the family on camping trips and road trips in the area and to Yellowstone Park whenever possible.

He worked tirelessly in many different professions and trades to support his wife and children, from insurance and computer sales to physical therapy and truck driving. This was not easy with two kids suffering from cystic fibrosis. Garth's devotion to his wife Rochelle and doing the best he could for his kids was what defined him above all.

Garth is survived by his wife Rochelle (Sept. 27, 1943), daughters Stephanie (David) Duncan and Kathrine (Gary) Noyes, and sons David and Joseph (Rena) Campbell, eight grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, sister Peggy (Robert) Cromwell and Robert Newell Campbell. He is preceded in death by daughter, Rebecca, son, Perrin, brothers Allan, Richard and Dirk, and sister Opal (Doug) Madison).

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. May 29, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home East, 963 S. Ammon Road in Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior.
