He was born on April 4, 1992, in San Mateo, California, and grew up in Caldwell, Idaho. Garrett graduated from Homedale High School in 2010, and joined the National Guard when attending school at the age of 17. He stayed with the National Guard until the age of 22 and was honorably discharged for his service where he then resided in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
He spent the last couple of years working at Phoenix Fire Protection as a pipefitter apprentice. Here he was able to work his way up in the company, and gain many close friends. Garrett cherished his 1966 Ford Mustang, loved playing golf, paintballing, playing music, shooting, grilling, and most of all his dog, Spike.
He is survived by his parents Thomas and Joan Gaskins, his brother's Leland and Brandon Gaskins, and grandparents William and Judy Tutalak, and Merton Malek, as well as his aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Garrett will be honored at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018, at The Bethel Lutheran Church in Firth, Idaho. A reception for friends and family will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Home2 Suite, 1160 Whitewater Drive, Idaho Falls.
