Click Here To View Memorial Video Gardell Wayne Jensen, 68, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 27, 2015, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Gardell was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and lived his entire life as a loyal and diligent disciple of Jesus Christ. At his death he was truly worthy to be received into the arms of his waiting family and his Lord and Savior. He held to his testimony, his faith and his commitment to his covenants without wavering. He held many positions, always serving in every calling to the best of his ability. He was kind and friendly, reaching out to everyone he met. Gardell was a worker from childhood onward. He was driving a tractor at the age of seven and continued to be industriously engaged from then on until his death. He always took the initiative to see what needed to be done and served wherever workers were required, in his family, his neighborhood, his church, and in his occupation. Gardell's biggest enjoyment in life was fishing. He was fishing alone in the mountains near Richfield from the age of 10 onward. He fished at every opportunity, retiring at age 62, so that he could spend more time doing what he loved best. Many, many boys earned their fishing merit badges under Gardell's direction. He liked to catch and release as many different varieties as possible and often caught in excess of 2000 fish per season in his last years. Gardell was born October 22, 1946, in Richfield, Utah, to Arnell Val Jensen and Norine Lorensen Jensen. He grew up and attended schools there, graduating from Richfield High School. Gardell graduated valedictorian from Snow College. He then served a 27 month mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Northern Germany, which included Berlin and Bremen. Following his mission, Gardell attended the University of Utah, where he earned bachelor degrees in chemistry and chemical engineering and later a masters degree in Engineering Business. Because of the Vietnam War, Gardell served in the United States Army from 1971-1974. He was stationed in Dugway, Utah, where he worked in the Chemical Corp. On June 7, 1973, Gardell married Leslie Joan Wall in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They had four children: Tyson, Taylor, Rebecca and Brooke. Gardell and Leslie lived in Wyoming, Idaho, and Utah. In 1982 they moved to Great Falls, Montana, where they lived for 28 years. Gardell worked as a chemical engineer and then as the maintenance superintendent for Montana Refining. Leslie and Gardell moved to Idaho Falls in 2010. Gardell is survived by his wife of 42 years, Leslie Jensen of Idaho Falls, ID, son, Tyson Wayne (Adrian) Jensen of Oceanside, CA, son, Taylor Austin (Krista) Jensen of Downey, ID, daughter, Rebecca Kristin Jensen of McCall, ID, daughter, Brooke Elise Jensen of Idaho Falls, ID, brother, Leland (Lisa) Jensen of CA, brother, Welby (Lissa) Jensen of AK, sister, Valine Jensen of UT, and 7 grandchildren (Kyla, Caleb, Emma, Mara, Jayne, Eva and Lena).
