GAIL D. BOAM
COLTMAN, ID -- Gail Daniels Boam, 84, of Idaho Falls, died September 22, 2002, at her home of natural causes. She was under the care of Idaho Home Health & Hospice.
She was born May 26, 1918, in Carmen, Idaho, the youngest of four children born to Albert and Nellie Whittenburg Daniels. She attended grade school in Carmen and high school in Salmon. She then went on to nurses training at St. Patrick's Hospital in Missoula, Montana. After graduating from nurses training she worked in the Salmon Hospital.
She later tired of nursing and went to work for Jack & Frances Brenner as a mother's helper on their cattle ranch near Grant, Montana. There she met her future husband, E. A. “Bus” Boam, who was one of the hired hands there. They were married January 15, 1942, in the Methodist Church in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and went to work for Chris Neilison in Baker, Idaho, until her husband got an offer to manage the Donovan ranch in Horse Prairie (Grant), Montana. There she worked hard feeding hired hands, tending orphan and sick animals, and keeping up the large ranch house. They lived on the Donovan Ranch until 1964, when they went to work for David Hagenbarth in Kilgore, Idaho. After a year there they went to work for James Burns at another ranch in Alder, Montana. They then moved to the Diamond O Ranch near Dillon, Montana, where they worked for the Rebish Brothers and for John Lacey.
After retirement In 1975 they moved to the Boam family homestead near Coltman. Gail was able to raise a huge garden there. She also enjoyed fishing. Bus passed away March 12, 1988. The following year her daughter, Margi and husband, Donald, moved down, which allowed her to stay in her home until her death.
Surviving are:Daughter: Margi Vanover, Idaho Falls, ID 2 Grandchildren, 3 Great GrandchildrenShe was preceded in death by her husband and her son-in-law, Donald Vanover.
Memorial Graveside Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 26, 2002, at the Grant-Central Cemetery, with Cory E. Brower of Wood Funeral Home officiating.
