Gail Jean Abood, 55, of Idaho Falls, passed away January 24, 2017, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Gail was born August 29, 1961, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Theodore Umstead and Wanda May Goodwin Umstead. She grew up and attended schools in Riverside, California, and graduated from Norte Vista High School.

In 1975, she met Joe Somma and together they had two sons, Joe and Tony. She later met Gio Selders and together they had four daughters, Sarah, Cynthia, Angela, and Patricia.

On March 7, 2008, she married Allen David Abood in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Gail was a wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed movies, especially Westerns, and was a big fan of John Wayne. Christmas was her favorite. Gail enjoyed helping the elderly, loved her kids and grandkids, and loved doing things for others.

Gail is survived by her husband, Allen Abood of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Joe (Braquel) Somma; son, Tony Ray (Stacy) Somma; daughter, Sara Jean (Jason) Lairiamore; daughter, Cynthia (Carleton) Haney; daughter, Angela Nicole Shanks; daughter, Patricia Rachel Cook; brother, Larry Joe Goodwin; brother, James Umstead; brother, Tommy Umstead; sister, Debbie Umstead; 18 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Peter, David, Dennis, John, Bob, and Timothy Umstead; and a sister, Rhoda Umstead.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2017, at the Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon). The family will visit with friends from 12-12:45 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
