Gabriel Mendez

Gabriel Reyes Mendez, 90, of Idaho Falls, passed away January 30, 2018, at his home. He was under the care of his family and Hospice of Eastern Idaho.

Gabriel was born July 30, 1927, in Mexico City, D.F., Mexico, to Maria Mendez. He attended schools in Mexico.

He met his beloved wife, Mary Falk, while she was working as a missionary nurse in Mexico. They were married May 20, 1954, in Chihuahua, Mexico. They moved to Canada and finally to the United States in 1961. Together they worked as missionaries serving among the Spanish speaking people. Gabriel pastored in Idaho, Washington and California. Currently he was a member of the River Valley Apostolic Church in Idaho Falls where his son-in-law, Paul Resendez, pastors. His wife, Mary, preceded him in death on March 30, 2016.

Gabriel enjoyed gardening, writing and sharing biblical truth with many minsters throughout the United States. He especially loved his family and spending time with them.

Gabriel is survived by daughter, Elizabeth Dadiva (Paul) Resendez of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Marilyn Rhoda Mendez of Stockton, CA; son, Gabriel Darios (Susan) Mendez of Novato, CA; daughter, Eunice Aurelia Mendez of NV; daughter, Deborah Lynn (John) Brand of Claremore, OK; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother; his wife; a grandson, Emerson Noah Brand; and a great granddaughter, Marissa Annette Villa.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at the Apostolic Assembly (River Valley Apostolic Church, 260 Gladstone) in Idaho Falls with Pastor Paul Resendez officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6-7:30 p.m. and Saturday from 12- 12:45 p.m., both at the church. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
