Glendon Nelson Stillwell, 87, of Shaver Lake, California, passed away May 12, 2018, at Clovis Community Medical Center.
Nelson was born June 13, 1930, in Wakenda, Missouri, to Glenn Elige Stillwell and Mary Lou Fisher Stillwell. He grew up and attended schools in the area and graduated from Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri. He also attended Kansas City Jr. College. Nelson served in the Air National Guard for 10 years and was required to spend one weekend away every month.
On July 31, 1953, he married Inez Arvilla Montgomery in Kansas City Missouri. To this union were born two children: Robert and Janet. Nelson worked as a bellman and doorman for the Muehlbach Hotel while in Kansas City, owned a dairy store and home delivery service in Idaho Falls, and later worked as a lumber grader for the sawmill in Darby, Montana. Following retirement he enjoyed farming. He also loved hunting, fishing, reading, and traveling.
Nelson was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and Inez were sealed in the temple on October 28, 2017.
Nelson is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Inez Stillwell of Shaver Lake, CA; son, Robert (Kathy) Stillwell of Lindon, UT; daughter, Janet (James) Parr of Shaver Lake, CA; 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four siblings, Wayne Stillwell, Doris Stillwell, Erma Jean Stillwell, and Harold Stillwell.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at Taylor Cemetery (720 East 129th South) in Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge, Idaho Falls) prior to departing for the cemetery.
