Fredesvinda “Freddy” Amador Murillo, 86, of Idaho Falls, passed away March 4, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was under the care of Enhabit Home Health and Hospice.
Freddy was born October 19, 1937, in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, to Santos Amador Mendoza and Maria Josefa Murillo Nieto. She grew up and attended schools in Escuela Republica de Argentina, and Escuela de Bellas Artes en Comayaguela, Honduras.
Freddy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She joined the church in 1992 in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and remained a faithful member the remainder of her life. She loved reading and studying the scriptures.
Freddy loved music, especially listening to old romantic music. She was an avid reader and loved talking with people. She loved meeting new people and made friends easily.
Freddy had a sweet experience which she never forgot. She met the First Lady of Argentina, Evita Peron, in la escuela de Argentina. Evita was a famous political figure and movie star. Evita awarded Freddy, among other honor students, with European shoes and a basket with a blanket for her high academic marks. She cherished the shoes, never wearing them, keeping them in pristine condition.
Freddy is survived by her eight children, Jose Luis (Hilda) Bonilla of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Jose Manuel Bonilla of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Conrado (Glena) Fortin of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Freddy Omar Fortin of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Orlando (Tina) Fortin of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Veronica (Richard) Allen of Idaho Falls, ID, Victor Hugo (Zoila) Portillo of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and Edgar Alexander Portillo of Tegucigalpa, Honduras; sisters, Soledad de Bustillo, Santa de Bonilla, and Judith Jereda; 28 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Salvador Avilez; sisters, Leticia Murillo and Rosario Murillo; brother, Hernan Jereda; and daughter-in-law, Mayra Portillo.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends from 1-1:45 p.m. prior to the service.
