Frederick "Bud" Cook, 86, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 27, 2016, at MorningStar Senior Living Center. He was under the care of One Source Home Health and Hospice. Fred was born December 28, 1929, in Santa Barbara, California, to Frederick William Cook and Gladys Erma Davis Cook. He grew up and attended schools in Santa Barbara. He served as a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in Japan as a radio repairman. He received a Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and was honorably discharged in 1952. He married Marie Josephine "Jo" Cook in Santa Barbara in 1954. They were blessed with five children, Dale, Susan, Don, Bob, and Richard. They were later divorced. On October 27, 1973, he married Renee Rasmussen Cook in Lafayette, California, adding Sue and Mitch to his family. They made their home in California where Fred worked as an electronics technician for Lawrence Livermore Laboratory. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed electronics and built a color TV from a kit. He loved baseball and football. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He was known for being witty and funny, intelligent, and kind. Fred is survived by his son, Dale (Judy) Cook of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Susan Cook of Bremerton, WA; son, Don (Debbie) Cook of Hidden Valley Lake, CA; son, Bob (Maria) Cook of Modesto, CA; son, Richard Cook of Bangkok, Thailand; daughter, Sue (Scott) Hoyt of Parker, CO; son, Mitch (Susan) Taylor of Oakland, CA; brother, Bob (Shirley) Cook of South Lake Tahoe, CA; brother, Bill (Maylene) Cook of Buellton, CA; ex-wife, Jo Cook of Bremerton, WA; 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Gladys Cook; wife, Renee R. Cook; and sisters, Margaret Mullins and Barbara Sobolewski. Services will be held in Denver, Colorado, at a later date. Burial will be in the Fort Logan National Cemetery, where Military Rites will be performed.
