Freda Dorene (Jackson) Doherty

Freda Dorene Doherty, 75, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 18, 2023, at Tambree Meadows Assisted Living Center. She was under the care of Enhabit Home Health and Hospice and her loving family.

Freda was born December 16, 1947, in Westwood, California, to Charley Bob Jackson and Phyllis “Cemo” Jean Buzzard Jackson. She grew up and attended Shasta High School, Anderson High School, and ended her education at “School of Hard Knocks.”

From a young age Freda spent large portions of her life singing in church. She met her husband through singing. On June 5, 1965, She married George “Bruce” Doherty in Redding, California. Much of their time spent together was spent harmonizing. They were blessed with five children. Freda and George made their home in California where Freda worked as a CNA for most of her professional career.

She was a member of Watersprings Church and attended the ladies bible study group at Watersprings. Freda enjoyed painting, playing the guitar, piano and singing. She also enjoyed playing bingo.

Freda is survived by her loving children, Timothy Bruce (Donna) Doherty of Cottonwood, CA, Tamara Dorene (Darwin) Smith of Locust Grove, GA, Lana M. Doherty of Ammon, ID, and Jason Noel Doherty of Chico, CA; three siblings; Verdis "Verdi" Golden of Claremore, OK, Marlene Messer of Cathedral City, CA, Regina "Ginner" Gayle (Chris) Busten of Tulsa, OK, 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, George Bruce Doherty; son, Quincy Arden Doherty; granddaughter, Amber Dorene Doherty; and three brothers, Ardie, Curtis, and Randy Jackson.

Services will be held at a later date.
