FRED 'BUCK' BUCKENDORF
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Fred Hilton "Buck" Buckendorf, 98, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 7, 2003, at his home of natural causes.
He was born November 22, 1904, at Fort Collins, Colorado, to Reuben Thomas Buckendorf and Vera Head Buckendorf. The family moved to Buhl when he was young and he grew up and attended schools there, graduating from Buhl High School in 1926. He then attended Lynnfield College in McMinnville, Oregon.
He married Dora Agnes Wilson June 29, 1933, in Jerome. They made their home in Idaho Falls, where they owned and operated Buckendorf Motors. They also lived briefly in Franklin and Blackfoot, Idaho, and Phoenix, Arizona. Dora passed away in January, 1986.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, which was originally founded in his home. He enjoyed western history, fishing, and cooking.
Surviving are his son, Gary H. Buckendorf, of New York, New York, four grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora, and a daughter, Joy Nadine Buckendorf-Shakelton.
Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2003, at the Calvary Baptist Church, 785 East First Street, Idaho Falls, with Reverend Kirk Casey officiating.
The family will visit with friends Thursday for one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at 12 Noon Friday, April 11, 2003, in the West End Cemetery in Buhl under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
