Franklin Edwin Mahoney, 78, formerly of Ucon, Idaho, passed away on April 1, 2015, at Orchard Park Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Orem, Utah.
He was born January 7, 1937, in Declo, Idaho, to Benjamin Franklin Mahoney and Helen Mae Stultz Mahoney. He grew up in the area and graduated from Declo High School. He continued his education at the University of Utah, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree of Education and later received his Master’s Degree from Idaho State University.
On November 20, 1959, he married Dorothy Staples in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. She preceded him in death on February 28, 2012. He worked as an educator for Bonneville School District #93 for 36 years. He was a strict, but great, math teacher who influenced the lives of many students throughout the years. He was also an avid Scouter and served for many years in the Scouting program. Because of Franks love for scouting, he has influenced many young men to earn their Eagle Scout rank.
Frank was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully fulfilled his church callings, which included serving on the Stake High Council, as Scout Master, Sunday School President, Ward Clerk and Financial Clerk. He enjoyed gardening and working outside. He had a love for history, with a keen knowledge of World War II. He also enjoyed watching Abbott & Costello movies and was a huge UTE fan.
Frank was very much a family man and a devoted husband and father. He cared lovingly for his wife in her later years. He loved his family very much, and especially enjoyed visits from his children and grandchildren.
Survivors are:
