Frank Stokes

Franklyn "Frank" Cash Stokes, 85, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 15, 2018, at MorningStar Senior Living Center. Frank was born May 17, 1933, in Tremonton, Utah, to LaVon Edwin Stokes and Nannah Cash Stokes. The family moved to Idaho Falls where he graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He also attended Ricks College for a short time. Frank worked as an accountant for JR Simplot, Bish Jenkins and many other businesses around town. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had an uncanny memory for names and dates. Our sweet uncle was known for his talents as an organist and pianist and sang with many choirs and singing groups. Frank produced and directed the Miss Idaho Falls Pageant for many years and it became the hottest ticket in town for the incredibly entertaining show he put on. He had an incredible knack for spotting and promoting great local talent and putting together beautiful musical presentations. Frank is survived by his brothers, Edward C. Stokes of Menlo Park, CA and LaVon C. (Nadine) Stokes of Henderson, NV; sister-in-law, Trudy Stokes Kelly of Draper, UT; four generations of nieces and nephews; and the extended families of Reed Raymond and Curt Jenkins. He was preceded in death by his parents; six siblings, Bernice Roueche, Quintin C. Stokes, Evelyn Henry, Josephine Soelberg, Barbara Earl, and Roger Kent C. Stokes; two nephews, Craig LaVon Soelberg and Winston J. Soelberg; and two great nephews, Austin Jay Stokes and Jordan Scot Stokes. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge). The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Frank was dearly loved by all who met him. He will be greatly missed. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Encompass Home Health and Hospice for the compassionate care and the sweet friendship they gave Frank. Appreciation would also like to be extended to MorningStar for their kind and loving care.
